Oven Extravaganza

Ok so our oven was installed yesterday and we learned some things.

1. Our old unit was what they call a combo unit. This means the microwave plugged into the back of the oven and their is no outlet in the space. This means we have an extension cord running until we get an outlet in.

2. The people before us built a little shelf to fit with the old oven so now we have to do some carpentry ourselves to fix it.

3. We Learned how to broil. Who knew you had to leave the oven door open. Know wonder the only other time we have tried it things did not turn out well.

Without further adieu here are the pictures.

First a picture of the oven.

Second a picture of the first thing we cooked in it. Orange Hoison Pork with coconut rice and snap peas. The food was awesome. It came from the weight watchers magazine.

So now we just need someone who can put an electric outlet in. Dad I'm looking at you here.

Weighing In

So as I promised yesterday here is an update on my weigh in day. When the dust finally settled this is what it looked like.

I ended up at 291.0. This puts me at a loss of 5.1 pounds in 2 weeks. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow when we get our new oven. This will expand our variety of foods and I might start blogging about that. I will post pics of the oven tomorrow.

Preview

Ok, since the last time I've posted things have been pretty busy. I completed all of my work for Observing and Analyzing Teaching one of the two Research for Better Teaching courses I am taking. Now I just have to get my masters work turned in. On Thursday we had a snow day and that allowed me to finish reading book 6 of the Wheel of Time series.

Here is a little art from the book. If you are unfamiliar with the series I suggest you give it a chance especially if you like fantasy at all. As you can see

You will need a good chunk of time to dedicate to it. In total there are over 4 million words and 11,000 pages. I am about 150 pages into book 7.

Weekends are so short when we have Saturday school but I feel like the kids are really enjoying it this year. The extra work plus the fun makes it really beneficial.

Tonight we had our second week of curling and we got slaughtered 11-0. It was absolutely horrible. No one on our team could make a shot and the team we were playing was good but they weren't that good.

Oh also before curling tonight we decided to go to The Pita Pit to eat dinner. We get there only to find out that they are closed. So when I get home I get on the internet and look at there twitter page. It turns out they have been closed for maintenance since early in November. Now I'm no expert but what kind of maintenance takes 3 months to complete? Sounds like a health inspector issue to me.

Finally a preview of tomorrows blog. I did a sneak peak today and my weight is down from last week. Check in tomorrow to find out how much.

New kicks

Ok so happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Today was a huge day for me. We were off school made several exciting purchases and finished week 1 of our weight watchers. So let's start with the biggest news.

Today we purchased a new oven. The oven in our house is an original classic oldie that ran about 50 degrees off the wrong temp. After about 3 months of living in the house we were baking heard a popping noise which was the bottom heating coil going out. Well eating healthy is hard when you can't bake so we ordered a new oven today. We got the frigidaire gallery which matches our dishwasher and our fridge. Here is a pic.

As you can see it's pretty snazzy. Yes, I just said snazzy. It will be here in 1-2 weeks. The space we have is 27 inches and most now a days are 30 inches so they didn't have any in stock.

We bought. A scale today because we figured that the wii was not the best way to weigh. Turns out that was good thinking as the wii apparently makes you 5 lbs lighter. With that adjustment taken into consideration here are my week 1 results.

Now the goal weight you see here is 5%. My long term goal is in the 220 to 230 range. This past week I averaged 54 points a day when I am allowed 64 plus 54 bonus per week. I did pretty good other than a 70 point dinner from BWW on Friday.

Finally, working towards this goal Rexi and I picked up some new kicks and some sensors and were now set up for some iPod + Nike goodness.

We took the dogs today so we were a little slower than usual but we still managed two miles in 32:04 for an average of 16:02 a mile. I burned about 430 calories which is a good start.

Comment if you like it!

Update

Ok well second update in three days. This is a good start Rexi and I have continued watching what we are eating and we are feeling better already. Yesterday we were a little bad. One of our favorite people was in town and we got the opportunity to go out with them. We ate quite a few points at Toby Keith's. I had the nachos and ate about 30 points just with dinner. I skipped dessert though and still ended under on points for the day.

New Year, New Beginnings

So we are ten days into the new year and it's time to begin trying to stick with those New Years resolutions. Oddly enough mine are widely varied and yet they all involve my IPad in some form or another. So here they are:

#1 Blogging
This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time and I've tried to get started a few times but it has never stuck. I feel like this time I can stick with although I need to figure out at some point what my focus will be.

#2 Get in better shape
This is something Rexi and I are doing together. We have joined weight watchers online as of today we are on the program. We waited till today because we were in Chicago this weekend and it didn't seem like the best idea to try to start it when we were going to be out of town. I would have taken a picture of the chicken fried rice we had for dinner but my phone is on the fritz so this will have to do.

As you can see I did pretty well today although I didn't have breakfast of any kind which is bad for your metabolism.

#3 Get organized
Now I do a very good job being mentally organized without using lists or anything of the such but I've decided I need to start. The busier I get the more I find I need some type of aid. This will hopefully also allow me to not be as last minute as I am now.

I will be using todo iPad app as my tool for his improvement.

#4. New facebook pic
This last one is specifically for my mother-in-law who has been bugging me to change my facebook. So it's from 2005 sue me. This one is easy. Here is the new pic, it's uploaded I just have to make my way to a pc to crop it because apparently you can't do that from an iPad.

There it is.

Thanks for taking the time to read. As a final thought I just wanted to shout to my parents who have been married 30 years today. Love you guys.
